More importantly, magnets with 3-layer coating have superior cracking and chipping resistance in comparison to magnets with Epoxy single layer coating. I ordered 4 of these magnets. I purchased them due to their rated strength and the coating that protects the magnets from rusting. The magnets arrived well packaged with plastic spacers between them so I was able to get them apart. I used a silicone adhesive to glue them to the ends of two stucco walls I have in my back yard. I wanted the magnets to hold a metal gate in place so that my dogs could use the side yard. I couldn't use hinges on the ends of the walls so I thought I would try these magnets. The magnets, two on each side, hold the 10 lb. gate in place very well, even when the dogs jump on the gate. I can easily remove the gate when I want to gain entry due to leverage. The magnets are incredibly strong and so far seem to work very well. I assume they will not rust due to the coating they have. I will tell you to heed instructions to not let the magnets stick together; they are very hard to get apart because they are so strong. I accidently slipped and the magnets slammed together in a nanosecond. Although one was slightly chipped due to the collision, they did not break. They were very hard to pull back apart, I had to turn one at 90 degrees to the other and pry them apart. These magnets are much more powerful than any I have ever seen before. For my purpose, they solved a very difficult problem I with my gate and so far they them to work exactly as I had hoped.
